[Link] Digital Realty and Blackstone announce $7 Billion hyperscale data center development joint venture. Three metro areas across North America and Europe; supporting 500MW of total IT load when fully built out.
[Link] Cologix grows Canadian presence. The company announced the completion of its acquisition of two Cyxtera facilities in Vancouver and Montréal as well as the expansion of Cologix data centers in Montréal and Toronto, bringing the Canadian portfolio to 22 data centers with a total of 1,057,000 square feet and 94MW of power.
[Link] IBM Debuts Next-Generation Quantum Processor & IBM Quantum System Two. At its annual Quantum Summit in New York IBM announced the 133-qubit Huron quantum processor and the company’s first modular quantum computer, IBM Quantum System Two.
[Link] AMD launches Instinct MI300X accelerators and the AMD Instinct MI300A accelerated processing unit (APU). OEMs showcasing accelerated computing systems included Dell (PowerEdge and generative AI design), HPE (Cray supercomputing EX255a), Leonovo, and SuperMicro.
[Link] A nice article from EE|Times on what is holding back neuromorphic computing. Mike Davies, director of Intel’s neuromorphic computing lab, told EE Times that the technology shows immense promise for reducing power consumption and latency versus current deep-learning–based neural networks.
[Link] AT&T to Accelerate Open and Interoperable Radio Access Networks (RAN) in the United States through a new collaboration with Ericsson. AT&T’s spend could approach roughly $14 billion over the 5-year term of the contract with Ericsson.
