[Link] Cisco to acquire Splunk for ~$28 billion. Splunk will add nicely to the growing software business inside of Cisco, bolstering its observability platform. It seems like this acquisition should have happened about 10 years ago. It would have been when I was a big fan of Splunk and when it was a regular game of ‘which companies will Cisco acquire this year’. I hope the marketing team at Splunk that came up with their t-shirts made out well in this deal (I still have my “performing algorithmic acts of kindness” shirt).
