Weekly Edition of curated news about Digital Infrastructure
[Link]Another week, another Iowa is awesome story. đ This time it is a two-building data center campus being developed in Ankeny (north side of Des Moines) for Edged Energy. The site is not too far from the enormous Facebook campus in Altoona. The description of this development sounds a lot like what the company has done with its impressive other sites around the U.S. It looks as though this new Des Moines site will support up to 70kW/rack, using a waterless cooling system from sister company ThermalWorks. One more site around town that Iâll have to stalk the construction progressâŠ
[Link] I love reading about render farms and how they work / what they are working on. I am going to say I had the idea for RFAAS (Render Farm as a Service) first many years ago, but⊠Now Amazon has launched AWS Deadline Cloud, a fully managed service for customers creating computer graphics, visual effects, or innovating their pipelines to incorporate AI-generated visuals.
[Link] Equinix signs a deal to procure up to 500MW of nuclear power from Oklo SMRs. The letter of intent is for Equinix to purchase power from Okloâs planned âpowerhousesâ to serve Equinixâs data centers in the US on a 20-year timeline.
[Link]â I missed this story from a little while back - but it is hard to ignore, when they say things like $100 billion and 5GW. Microsoft and OpenAI considering an enormous âStargateâ supercomputer, that could launch in 2028.
[Link] nLighten announced the strategic acquisition of seven edge data centers from EXA Infrastructure. nLighten and EXA are portfolio companies of I Squared Capital, a leading independent global infrastructure investor.
